There is also a school museum, aimed at teaching about the different cultures that have pleasantly shaped the city of Bolzano.

Discovering the castles

The surrounding castles are also full of culture and host museums and exhibitions of various kinds, such as the Messner Mountain Museum Firmian located in Formigra, the original name of the fortified structure.

The Roncolo castle was built in 1237 and is often used for cultural events of great interest. Despite frequent renovations, the castle still has intact the ancient frescoes that enrich its rooms.

Christmas in the Markets of Bolzano

A Christmas tradition that the countries of the north love to revive every year at Christmas is the markets. We are obviously talking about the Christmas markets that from late November will host about 80 artisans, gastronomic and artistic stands. This Christmas tradition has been going on for 27 years now, without ever losing the same enthusiasm as in the first year.

Not only are objects linked to religious holidays available, but there are also rituals and customs handed down by grandmothers that have survived to this day. A special area is also reserved out of respect for the environment: the green event supports the ecosystem with initiatives aimed at protecting nature. Children also deserve more attention during this period, which for them takes on a more magical tone. Several activities for them are organized, such as the electric train, the carousel, the puppet show and an unforgettable and fun ride on a real carriage.

The Christmas markets offer handcrafts, clothing, musical instruments, regular and Christmas dishes, stationery and various household decorations.

Bolzano is a city full of events and attractions that take place not only on the mainland! If you look up in the sky, you can enjoy a panorama with unique contours that will fascinate you from the very first moment.

But how can you benefit from this almost heavenly image? Simple: there are three cable cars in Bolzano that allow you to take a trip through the clouds and admire the city from above.

The hill’s cable car is the oldest, dating to as far back as the early 20th century. The Renon cable car is certainly the most modern and will take you on an itinerary, in which you can also admire the Dolomites and the earth pyramids.

The cable car of San Genesio is wonderful at sunset because it offers a spectacle that must not be missed, which must be memorialized and kept in memory forever.
